Knowledge about China

We provide information about China from various perspectives.

The subdivision consists of relevant topics such as China’s economy and society, Chinese culture and history, profession-specific expertise, and legal system and political structure, thus making it easier for individuals to use.

Consulting and Services

Our target groups are scientists, students, administrative staff, and management levels of universities and research institutions. SMEs are also included.

Depending on the needs and level of expertise, we offer culture-specific assimilation training (e.g. simulations, Lego Serious Play), the connection between language and non-verbal communication with culture (e.g. simulations), as well as targeted mentoring on topics such as Chinese law, the Chinese education system, and negotiations and correspondence with Chinese partners (e.g. blended learning, simulations).

Workshops on Specific Topics about China

Special workshops (online and offline) for social interaction and networking are organized. The topics covered focus on Chinese law, the Chinese education system, and relevant intercultural insights for communication, particularly for negotiations with Chinese partners.

These workshops are particularly aimed at technical-scientific and economically oriented study programs, faculties, and their research. The target groups will learn about the various and connecting elements related to working methods and research practices. Doctoral students and post-doctoral researchers who plan to conduct research stays in China in the future will receive support in knowledge transfer, pre-contact with Chinese partner institutions, and organizational matters to help them prepare for this period.

Workshops will also be offered for administrative staff and management levels of research institutions to develop an understanding of legal and project-related issues. In particular, the differences in the allocation of government funding in China compared to third-party funding in Germany will be addressed here.

Furthermore, exchange formats will create a forum for young German-Chinese scientists where discipline-specific questions can be discussed within the framework of China expertise. The results will be consolidated in the China Competence Center Saxony.

Networks for the Development and Expansion of China Expertise in the Saxony Region

Under the cooperation of universities: Chemnitz University of Technology (TUC) and West Saxon University of Applied Sciences Zwickau (WHZ), along with additional associated partners from the University of Leipzig, Tongji University (Shanghai), Saxony Economic Development Corporation (WFS), Fraunhofer IKTS Dresden, and the associations Silicon Saxony and the German-Chinese Association for Microelectronics and Semiconductors, a knowledge network will be created. This network will serve as a central competence hub, advising, informing, and developing China expertise for university management and administration staff, heads of international offices, researchers, especially early-career researchers, and SMEs in the region.
