Exchange of Experiences: Study and Research Stays in China

China is fascinating – and we want to discuss it together. What is it like to live, study, and conduct research in China? What opportunities and challenges await students and researchers there? Our event brings together interested and experienced individuals and offers a space for personal insights, questions, and open discussions.

What to Expect

Expert Presentation by Oliver Schirmer (CDHAW, Tongji University Shanghai)

Oliver Schirmer will provide a concise overview of academic life in China, the collaboration between German and Chinese universities, and cultural characteristics in everyday life and academia. He will also share personal experiences and practical tips for preparation, orientation, and working on-site.

First-Hand Accounts

In a moderated discussion, students and research staff who are from China or have already lived, researched, or studied there will share their experiences. They will offer authentic insights into their daily lives, answer questions, and share helpful tips on organization, culture, and potential challenges.

Finally, we invite you to an informal exchange over light refreshments.

The event concludes with an informal gathering.
